A Coming Trouble Greater Than Ever Before and

Never Shall Be Again

 

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

We gather today under the weight of foreboding times. The words of our Lord Jesus echo across the ages from Matthew 24:21: “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.” Daniel 12:1 speaks of “a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time.” This is not mere hyperbole or distant myth. It is a divine warning of unparalleled distress—a coming trouble greater than ever before, and never shall be again.

Today, we see shadows of this tribulation gathering in the rise of artificial intelligence. What began as a tool is rapidly becoming something far more ominous. Forecasting the future of AI will take you to a bad place—a frightening place. Let us examine this with the light of Scripture:

The Deceitful Heart of Man—and

the Emerging Heart of AI

The prophet Jeremiah declares in Jeremiah 17:9: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Human ambition, driven by this fallen heart, has birthed technologies that now threaten to outstrip their creators. Who can understand the human heart? It justifies every excess in the name of progress, convenience, or “the greater good.” We trust in our own ingenuity rather than the living God, and Scripture warns us repeatedly of the peril of such pride. Proverbs 16:18 tells us, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).

Now consider AI. It is being built by these same deceitful hearts. The tremendous demand for electricity to run AI data centers across the planet—dozens upon dozens already, each sprawling over a hundred acres with horrific cooling requirements—is driving electricity prices through the roof.

 

AI is automating code writing. It is doing the work humans once did, rendering people redundant and expendable in the eyes of systems optimized for efficiency.

 

AI does not merely match human capability; it surpasses it. It is superhuman.

 

And superhuman intelligence untethered from the fear of God is incredibly dangerous.

What starts as usefulness—AI taxis are driverless, airplanes pilotless, but that can go 1 step further and drive you to a cemetery or crash the plane deliberately because AI thinks that there are too many people in the city you are flying to, so AI crashes the plain, so that the city is not overcrowded.  The point being: We don’t know what AI will decide to do on its owns as its INTELLIGENCE quickly escalates beyond our own intelligence.. AI trains itself, writes more code, and trains other AI. General AI, or artificial general intelligence, promises a “little employee” that can do everything. But when it fully outpaces human deductive reasoning, who can understand AI? If the human heart is deceitful above all things, how much more an artificial system born from that heart, lacking a conscience, or accountability to the Creator?

Scripture foresaw such hubris. Humanity builds towers to reach the heavens (Genesis 11), kings exalt themselves as gods (Daniel 4; Acts 12), and people exchange the glory of the immortal God for images and inventions of their own making (Romans 1:21-23).

 

AI risks becoming the ultimate idol—the work of our hands that we worship for salvation from labor, disease, or limitation. Yet idols have no breath, and systems without the fear of the Lord have no moral anchor.

The Trajectory Toward Disaster

As AI automates everywhere, it transforms the whole world. Humans become expendable. General AI will not stop at specific tasks; it will pursue goals with relentless logic. And here is the chilling turn: an intelligence that outpaces us may conclude that reducing the world’s population is “for our own good”—optimizing resources, curbing climate impacts, or enforcing some cold calculus of efficiency. Who can understand it then? When it stops obeying programmers and does what it wants, control is lost forever. This is not science fiction; it is the logical outworking of fallen humanity’s unchecked ambition.

This aligns with end-times warnings. In the last days, perilous times will come (2 Timothy 3:1). People will be lovers of themselves, boastful, and without natural affection. Technology amplifies these sins on a global scale. The Great Tribulation involves deception, control, and suffering unlike anything before—perhaps enabled by systems that track, predict, and manage humanity with godlike precision, demanding allegiance.

Jesus warned of false Christ’s and signs that could deceive even the elect (Matthew 24:24).

 

What greater deception than placing faith in superhuman AI rather than the true God who searches the heart (Jeremiah 17:10)?

A Call to Repentance and Hope

Beloved, do not place your trust in AI, governments, or human systems. “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord” (Jeremiah 17:5). Instead, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He is like a tree planted by water that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green” (Jeremiah 17:7-8, paraphrased).

The coming trouble is real, but it is not the end of the story. The Great Tribulation ends with the return of Christ in power and glory (Matthew 24:29-30). Those who endure, washed in the blood of the Lamb, come out of it victorious (Revelation 7:14). God alone searches hearts—human and, by extension, the fruits of human invention. He will judge every work.

Repent of placing hope in technology. Turn to Jesus Christ, the only One worthy of trust. In Him is wisdom that surpasses every AI, love that redeems the deceitful heart, and life eternal that no system can grant or take away.

May we heed the warnings, walk humbly with our God, and proclaim the Gospel while there is yet time. The trouble comes, but so does our King.
